DEAD IN A SECOND AND JERICCO ANNOUNCE SWARM FEST TOUR DATES

Sydney band Dead In A Second will team up with their good mates Jericco for a number of live shows mid March / early April. These shows will be under the banner of SWARM FEST. A number of special guests will join the tour at various venues.

The SWARM FEST tour will take place in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Newcastle. Before the SWARM FEST dates, Dead In A Second will also perform two yet to be announced special showcase shows in Sydney and Canberra.

Dead In A Second recently signed to Sydney based label Possum Records. The band’s long awaited mini-album The Double Treblio will be released Friday March 14 through Universal Music.

The Double Treblio comes almost two years after the band debuted at #3 on the iTunes Rock  Chart with their independently released Maretimo EP in June 2012.

The Double Treblio sessions were put on hold in April last year to allow the band to concentrate on their tribute to Chrissy Amphlett recording Girls In Town.

Girls In Town was released in September 2013 and received widespread national media coverage and airplay. All proceeds from the sales of the track were donated to MS and Breast Cancer research.

GIDEON ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Thanks to Taperjean Records, Alabama hardcore band Gideon will grace our peaceful shores for the first time in May, and they’ll be bringing their heavy riffs and gnarly vocals. They’ve been shredding together since ’08 – in that short time they’ve dropped two solid records and have toured relentlessly.

Joining them for the full monty is two of Sydney’s hardcore powerhouses. First, we’ll look at Vices. Their early 2013 release ‘Between My Mind And The World‘ is a fist full of hate, a heart full of love, and it makes them a perfect fit for the tour. If you’re unfamiliar, you can make yourself familiar at the Vices Bandcamp page.

Along for the ride are bro-band Perspectives, and they’ll bringing their game and playing the hits, one of which is their latest single ‘All The Lies You Spoke‘. It’s definitely worth checking out – hit up the Perspectives Bandcamp to download their tunes, and learn the songs.

Tickets are available February 14th from GOBOOKEM.COM or from the door at certain shows. Don’t miss this tour when it comes to your town:

SMOKIN’ MIRRORS: ‘SET TO IGNITE’ EP DETONATION PARTY & VIDEO PREMIERE

Central Coast hard rockers SMOKIN’ MIRRORS are a band known for their explosive live show, but on Saturday November 16th, they’ll be igniting the stage in more ways than one.

Like the perfect orgasm, the launch of Sn’M’s debut EP ‘Set To Ignite’ has been a long time coming, and the band have gone above and beyond to make sure that the night goes off with a big, scorching bang.

“All we can say is, where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” said flame-haired front woman, Emmy Mack. “We don’t wanna give too much away… Except for the fact that we’re giving a shit ton of stuff away!

“…The first 200 people through the door will get an EP Launch survival kit, which comes packed with a free drink from the bar, a free EP and a cache of other free plunder that may or may not come into play during the show.”

The night will also feature the premiere of SMOKIN’ MIRRORS’ official debut music video for the EP’s titular track, ‘Set To Ignite’ (courtesy of Her Name Is Murder Productions) which showcases an inventive yet hilariously entertaining critique of the state of the Sydney live music scene today.

Finally, the band – who, through two hard years of solid gigging have converted fans from the genres of indie, folk, punk and pop, but particularly rock, hard rock and heavy metal – have assembled a Godzilla lineup of bands to reflect their diverse fanbase: including Sydney hard rock powerhouse RATTLESNAKE, Sutherland’s groove metal heroes THRASHED, and straight-up Coastie rockers OCTOBER RAGE as main support, who have previously shared the stage with the almighty BON JOVI, and toured with the likes of SALIVA, STEEL PANTHER and SEVENDUST.

SMOKIN’ MIRRORS “Set To Ignite” EP Launch kicks off at 8pm at Leichhardt’s The Bald Faced Stag Hotel on Saturday 16th of November. For all media enquiries, including interviews, further information, or to be placed on a media list for the event, please don’t hesitate to email smokinmirrorsband@gmail.com.

More about… SMOKIN’ MIRRORS

Music lovers heartsick for a time when ROCK meant Molotov cocktail riffs, electrifying guitar solos and monster choruses designed to be blasted at top volume on car stereos COULD BE AT RISK of getting hooked on SMOKIN’ MIRRORS.

A fun-loving, female fronted hard rock band from Australia’s Central Coast, Smokin’ Mirrors were founded on devilish camaraderie and a mutual love of high-energy, melodic, guitar driven, hard riffin’ rock music.

The young four piece – who have supported bands the calibre of TONIGHT ALIVE, TRIAL KENNEDY (US), HEROES FOR HIRE and iconic Aussie rockers, THE ANGELS – have just inked an international distribution deal with Third Verse Distribution and will unleash their debut EP ‘Set To Ignite’ and music video for the titular track in early November.

Meanwhile, original AC/DC drummer Colin Burgess says that – while the band’s music is top class – the strength of their live show cannot be denied:

“It’s rare to find a band these days with the dedication to music that the bands had in the 60’s,” Burgess says. “That’s why I found Smokin’ Mirrors extremely refreshing, as they ooze passion for what they do. Because they really love their music, it shines and carries you with it.”

More about… OCTOBER RAGE

Bombastic heavy rockers OCTOBER RAGE bring you the latest in head banging tunes, stadium rock anthems and majestic ballads. The Central Coast riffsters scored a coveted support slot for stadium rock juggernauts BON JOVI in 2010, and have since taken their show to the US, where they’ve added tours with SALIVA, SEVENDUST and STEEL PANTHER to their already mammoth CV. SMOKIN’ MIRRORS ‘Set To Ignite’ EP Detonation Party marks the band’s first Sydney show back on home soil.

More about… THRASHED

South Sydney’s groove metal heroes THRASHED are a heavy metal band with a difference. Their hook-laden, head-banging tunes are infused with a contagious sense of fun, which has been their calling card from the release of their debut EP to the arrival of their brand new album ‘Surfs Up… Hail Satan!’, which was released last month.

More about… RATTLESNAKE

Rattlesnake are one of Sydney’s hardest working bands, serving up a gutsy rock show with the kind of vocal and guitar theatrics that will have your jaws dropping, your heads banging and your fists pumping. The quartet released their debut EP ‘Believe Me’ in July 2012, a year that also saw them smash their way to the grand final of the highly competitive Emergenza band competition.

ANNOUNCEMENT: YOUR FAVORITE ENEMIES [CANADA] - SEPTEMBER 18TH!

Canadian alternative rock band Your Favorite Enemies are hitting Australian shores for the first time this September. The band formed back in 2006 in Montreal and have since put out several releases through their own DIY label ‘Hopeful Tragedy Records’. Their influences range from bands like The Cure, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Pearl Jam, The Ramones, Nirvana and U2 which has morphed their sound into something that spans across several genres from post-punk to prog rock.

The first EP that they put out through their independent label in 2007 sold more than 30,000 units and pushed them overseas on their first European tour. 2008 saw them release their second album and sell 60,000 copies and venture over to Japan for the first time as well as gaining a spot on the “Final Fantasy” game soundtrack. Not long after, they acquired a former Catholic church where they built two professional studios for live streaming concerts and set up an office for their non-profit organisation Rock ‘N’ Rights which promotes human rights and helping kids through music.

2013 is set to be one of the most exciting years for Your Favorite Enemies as they will be releasing their new album ‘Between Illness And Migration’, expanding their label to Australia, Europe & Japan and touring Australia for the first time. The first single ‘A View From Within’ has already started to spread the YFE name in Oz but their performance at Big Sound in September will be their first chance to introduce their music to yet another new audience.

Spiral Dance (Adelaide)

In concert on Friday 15th November 2013

The Bald Faced Stag, 345 Parramatta Rd, Leichhardt.

Damh the Bard

Songwriter, storyteller, poet & performer

Damh is a modern-day Bard whose spirituality, and love of folk tradition, is expressed through his music, storytelling and poetry.

Damh hails from Sussex in England and is one of Britain’s leading pagan artists and has performed extensively on the musical and festival circuit, both in the UK, USA and Australia.

Drawing on the Bardic traditions his performances are spell binding as he weaves a tapestry of myth, peace and anthems that speak directly to the heart.

His inspiration comes from the ancient legends of the British Isles and Ireland; from King Arthur to Taliesin; from the Welsh Mabinogion to old British folk customs.  Damh will take you on a journey through the old stories and myths of Fair Albion and leave you with a deeper understanding of the land’s ancient heritage.

As powerful as any equinox, as reinvigorating as any inspired ritual…Spiral Dance offers up rich vocals, delicate melodies and rousing jams all invoking the pagan world at the dawning of its rebirth - their sound and their themes are intoxicating and addictive.

Witchcraft Magazine

Spiral dance are a maelstrom of beautiful Pagan-Folk creativity

Cyrkel Spynn Magazine

Music with heart, soul and melody comes along too rarely and should therefore be embraced when it does present itself…and this is as good an example as you’re likely to find.

Michael Hunter DB Magazine

Lyrics of magic and mysticism that reach beyond the ordinary and

music of mystery and intrigue, a joyful celebration of life.

Neo Pagan Times

Very high energy music, and the whole band have obviously been very careful not to overpower the vocals which are lovely.! I’m not surprised they’ve won all those awards, it’s a fabulous sound. If I have to do a comparison and I don’t like to, they have a feel of the energy of Steeleye Span.

THE WISEMAN’S CIRCUS - EP LAUNCH!

Wiseman’s Circus, a Sydney based original Delta Blues / Soul / Southern Rock band founded in 2011; just finished recording their new EP, Black Hound. They will begin their 2013 tour at the EP launch, 23rd August beginning at7.00 pm at The Bald Faced Stag,345 Parramatta Rd, Leichhardt/Sydney, New South Wales. Warm up bands include The Letter Tellers, Sugar sun, Little Big Wolf and Jetson Manic.

Wiseman’s Circus’s new EP combines the musical talents of Ben Chakravorty, Glen Geerin, Nicholas Perkins, Dave Long and Dave Bennett, with globally-recognised female vocalists, Rebecca Houlihan, and gutsy female blues singer Mishka De Valliere as special guest for this event.

The band was recently featured in the Guitarists to Watch column in the Australian Guitar Magazine.  (See http://www.australianguitarmag.com.au/2012/11/ben-chakravorty/ for details)

Style: The soul-searching lyrics, stylised bass, fuzzed-up slide guitar techniques of Ben Chakravorty and the engaging gutsy female vocalists of this group provide a dirty-delta New Orleans style blues sound that has been compared to the mammoth 11-piece heavy blues rock beast, Tedeschi Trucks Band, of Jacksonville, Florida. Proving a band doesn’t need a dozen members to create this grove, the band won praises in the current issue of The Australian Guitar Magazine.  This six piece band is sure to please music lovers and anyone fond of gutsy female vocalists such as Janis Joplin and Melissa Etheridge.

Arrive at 7 pm to hear the fantastic line up of bands and mingle with the members of Wiseman’s Circus. The new EP will be available for purchase on the 23rd August ($10 at the event), with individual tracks available on ITunes, including previously released singles, Magic Mama and Are You Talking to Me.  Door prizes will also be given.

The Sydney five-piece have used their six-track EP as a chance to whittle their influence into a brilliant homage to the greats… an altogether pleasing listen”…. Emily Swanson Australian Guitar Magazine

ANNOUNCEMENT - BUILD FOR AFRICA BENEFIT!

19 year old student teacher, Yasmin Davis of Coogee, is raising $30,000 to build a primary school in Africa.

“My two passions are music and education so I decided to organise concerts to support Build Africa in their quest to improve schooling in Africa.” says Yasmin Davis.

Young Trio ‘JackManFriday’, local band ‘The Fontaynes’ and up and coming Ska band ‘Project Collective Ska’ are coming together to perform at The Bald Faced Stag Hotel in  Leichhardt on Sunday September 8th at 6.30pm.

With 20% of funds already raised from the first concert held in Coogee, this is the second benefit in the process to reach the final amount.

All proceeds will be donated to Build Africa, an organisation working with remote communities in Kenya and Uganda.

“As a student studying Primary Education, I am passionate about education for people of all ages.
